Remember those classrooms in Etcheverry that have automatic lighting based on movement? And when the sensors didn’t detect enough movement, it would shut off the lights?
Well, imagine that same lighting mechanism but in a bathroom, at work. Now imagine you’re “doing your business” and the light went out on you. That’s happened to me today. Twice (in the same “sitting”). It sucks. Someone must’ve messed with the timing because this didn’t happen before.
There I am, waving my arms wildly, and finally so frustrated that I hurry up and leave. I used to find it a relaxing experience. Now I feel rushed. This really sucks.

Traveling is fun, but the part where you actual travel to get your destination always sucks. Have you ever heard anybody say, “I can’t wait to get on that plane!” or “I love flying!”??
To make a long story short, my flight down sucked. Delays, weight balances, missed lift-offs and fog made it sucky. But, from my experience, I know it could’ve been worse so I’m glad it was only as bad as it was.
My cousins have been visiting so I’ve been doing all things touristy. A couple days ago we went to Vegas and I’m surprised how much it’s changed. Actually I’m not too surprised given that I haven’t been there in 15 years, but I can see how it appeals to people of my age group. The ritzy hotels, the shopping with stores aimed at our age group, the clubs, and so on. I’m definitely going to have to return to see some shows in the near future.
This vacation has been going by very quickly. It’s nearly over!

“Well, at least that is what you’d think if you read the captions on the Yahoo Slideshow. … The theme is simple, if you’re a poor black in New Orleans you are a looter. If you are white you are a finder. Pathetic. And what we see here hardly constitutes looting in any real sense. These are people trying to get some food to keep from starving to death. “
Blacks are “Looters” and White are “Finders”

Well, Technology really isn’t dead, but my laptop is. Not completely dead. If it were in a war, I’d say that it lost an arm but will probably live through the war. The video card is beginning to go. At first I thought it was a driver issue, but now I’m pretty sure it’s hardware. Poo. At least I was able to recover all my data off of it. Thank goodness for safe mode.
The good thing was that I got a new laptop. Yippee! Dell, here I come. Don’t let me down!
I went to a White Stripes concert last friday. It totally rocked! Definitely the quintessential minimalist American Rock. I want to put pictures up but am waiting for the new lappie until I can pull pics off my digital camera.
Lastly, I went kite flying on Sunday at the Berkeley marina. That place is always so windy you could fly brown sandwhich bags if you wanted to. I saw the scariest thing though: a 30 ft long fish (??) kite! Pictures of that will be up soon.
Unrelated quote from a sig I saw from someone on Slashdot that I find amusing:
Nietsche: God is dead.
God: Nietsche is dead.
